2008 ANNUAL DIOCESAN APPEAL
Secure the Vision

We're off to a GREAT start! It's certainly not too late to make your pledge for 2008. Simply use the form and envelope mailed to you some weeks ago. In case it has been misplaced, please use the envelopes that are available in the pews. Please give this matter your most careful and prayerful attention. The need is great and we hope that EVERYONE will help. Your parish priests and fellow parishioners are DEEPLY GRATEFUL to those who have already pledged support to this year's Annual Diocesan Campaign. Watch our progress toward our goal as posted in the vestibule of the Church.

FIRST FRIDAY ADORATION

 AND MASS

All parishioners are invited and encouraged to spend an hour in the Chapel before the exposed Blessed Sacrament on First Friday, February 1st, for our 24-hour Adoration beginning after Friday’s 8:00 A.M. Mass.  You also have the opportunity to attend First Friday Mass at 7:30 P.M. in the Church.

Jump Into Our Pool!

Did you know that you can join the Diocese of San Jose Pooled Income Fund?  You can earn a nice income, avoid capital gains taxes and nail down a tax deduction by doing this.  When you no longer need the income, your gift can go directly to St. Victor’s Parish.
If you want to know more about this, the Diocese can provide free assistance. Call the Development Office @ 983-0243, or write to them at: 900 Lafayette St., Suite 301, Santa Clara, CA 95050.

CONTRIBUTION STATEMENTS
Those families who use the parish envelope system will soon be receiving their statements of contribution(s) for determining the amounts given by each family in Regular, Special and Development Fund collections. These statements are done out of courtesy for you and are very useful in preparing your income tax returns. We thank you for your continued support and generosity.
PLEASE NOTE: Any Catholic Foundation contribution statements will be mailed to you directly from their Diocesan Office.

Dear Friends of St. Victor's School,
On January 27th-February 2nd, we will be celebrating our annual observance of Catholic Schools Week, the time set aside each year to celebrate Catholic education. We'll spend the week marveling at the success of the nation's 7,800 Catholic schools, the excellence of our students and the difference we make in our communities.
This year's theme, "Catholic Schools Light the Way," combines the concepts of God's light in the world and the light of knowledge we strive to kindle in our students. It represents the special role of Catholic schools and teachers in lighting the way through a faith-based education that supports the whole child in learning about and leading a fulfilled life.
You are welcome to visit our classrooms and meet our teachers and students during our Open House next Sunday, January 27th, from 10:00 A.M.-1:30 P.M.

NEXT WEEK

The blessing of the sick by the Church is a very ancient custom, rooted in imitation of Christ Himself and His Apostles.  In the U.S. this annual blessing is a traditional sign of the struggle against illness in the life of the Christian.  Next Sunday, Feb. 3rd, is our annual Blessing of the Throats.  We will give a general blessing at the end of each Mass.

SPAGHETTI DINNER

Mark your calendar for a parish-wide Spaghetti Dinner on February 17th, 4:30 to 6:30 P.M., in the hall.  This event is sponsored by St. Victor’s Catechetical Ministry.  More info to follow.
