SECOND COLLECTION TODAY FOR
CATHOLIC RELIEF SERVICES
Our social justice ministry as Catholics and Christians teaches us to
reach out to and care for each other.
Our brothers and sisters are all Jesus in Disguise.
The Catholic Relief Services collection puts faith into action
with funds from generous Catholics across the ANNUAL
DIOCESAN APPEAL
Growing
in Faith Together As the final weeks of
ADA approaches, a group of concerned volunteer parishioners will be
telephoning our regular contributors who have not yet responded to
this year’s Appeal, beginning next Sunday, March 21st.
If you are called, please respond politely and generously.
For your convenience, you may make your pledge by phone.
It will be confirmed by mail from the Diocese.
MANY THANKS to those who have already pledged.
Please wait for your statements from the Diocese and mail
payments directly to them, as the bookkeeping is done there.
Thank you! VOLUNTEERS

During this service, we will gather together as a parish family
to celebrate God’s mercy and forgiveness.
The service will include Scripture readings, time for
reflection and individual confession and absolution.

Life
Insurance Gifts
It is easy
to turn an old life insurance policy into a nice gift to St. Victor’s
Parish, and a possible tax deduction.
Simply transfer it to, “The Roman Catholic Bishop, a
California Corporate Sole, for the benefit of St. Victor’s Parish.”
It is even easier to add the Parish as a beneficiary to a
policy. Because you can
always change this, there is no tax deduction for including the Church
as a beneficiary. If you want to know
more about this, the Diocese can provide free assistance.
Call Robert Serventi @ 983-0168, or write to him at: Diocese of
San Jose, The Chancery, 1150 N. Come Back To Me With All Your
Heart
Lent is a special time. We take time to look more closely at God and God
looks at us. How can we
take even minor steps to get closer to God during these forty days?
There are three traditional practices that the Church puts
before us to help us forget self and follow Christ more closely. These
practices are: prayer, fasting and almsgiving. The most perfect prayer we have is the Mass. Join with others at
the 6:30 or 8:00 A.M. Mass during the weekdays (Monday-Friday) of
Lent. And/or join us on Friday evenings for Stations of the Cross
at 7:30 P.M. in the Church. Fasting asks us to
let go of habits that get in the way of our ability to love God and
others. The Fridays of
Lent are days of abstinence for everyone 14 years or
older. That means NO
MEAT. GOOD
FRIDAY will be a day of fast and abstinence.
That means ONLY ONE FULL MEAL for those 18-59 and
NO MEAT for anyone 14 years or older.
The faithful should not excuse themselves lightly from these
observances. Through almsgiving (ADA Appeal, Special Collections, Operation
Rice Bowl – Catholic Relief Services, Eastside F.I.S.H., St. Vincent
de Paul, or the Dollar a Dad Program) we come to see others as God
sees them, worthy of our love and sharing. Lenten Reminders: All the faithful, after they have participated in First Communion, are obliged to share in Communion at least once a year during the Easter season (First Sunday of Lent until Trinity Sunday). The faithful who are old enough to understand that they have sinned are obligated to confess serious sins at least once a year. It is recommended that venial sins also be confessed. EASTER FLOWER DONATIONS NEEDED
Donations for the Altar Society Flowers may be made in our EASTER
FLOWER envelopes located on the tables inside the Church and in
the vestibule. Your
contribution will help defray some of the expenses used for
beautifying the Church at this time of the year.
Please place these envelopes in the collection basket, or drop
them by the Rectory Office. Thank
you. ST.
