Our Lord Jesus Christ The King - November 21-22, 2009
SECOND
COLLECTION TODAY FOR THE CAMPAIGN FOR HUMAN DEVELOPMENT Poverty in America is on the rise – nearly 40 million Americans live below the poverty line. But, we can reverse the trend by rekindling the spirit of community with those in need, by joining in solidarity to break the cycle of poverty. The Catholic Campaign for Human Development supports self-help projects of poor and low-income people working together to improve their lives and their communities. (In our Diocese, several local self-help community-organizing groups have received grants.) Please give generously to CCHD in today’s second collection. Extra envelopes are available in the pews. CELEBRATING
THE FEAST OF THE VIETNAMESE MARTYRS
A special Mass for this occasion will be celebrated on Tuesday, November
24th, at 7:30 P.M. This
is bilingual and parish-wide celebration, all parishioners are
welcome. Please come to
learn more about the 117 martyrs (St. Andrew Dung-Lac, priest and
martyr, and his companions & martyrs).
Light refreshments will be served after Mass. THANKSGIVNG
DAY FOOD DRIVE AND MASS SCHEDULE
There is so much for which to be thankful for, if only we look to see.
So much, that perhaps we have taken it for granted.
As has been our custom at St. Victor’s, we again ask that non-perishable
food items be brought to Mass on THANKSGIVING DAY, and that
they be presented at the altar during the offertory procession
at each Mass. Your gifts
will be accepted by our St. Vincent de Paul Society volunteers, and
put into baskets for distribution to the needy of our neighborhood
throughout the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holiday seasons. St.
Victor’s St. Vincent de Paul Society will also be accepting monetary
donations. Thank you! All parish Offices will be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 26th
& 27th. On
Thanksgiving Day (Thursday, November 26th), Masses will be
celebrated at 8:00 and 9:30 A.M. Happy
Thanksgiving to one and all!
Welcome
to all of our visitors. We hope that you enjoy your time and
celebration with us. Parish

they are considered “dirty” animals there), PEZ dispensers and
candies, baby dolls (except “Barbie dolls – too immodest dress for

we have a special mailing address for these items.
Monetary donations to enable us to mail these items would also
be appreciated. Please
make checks payable to St. Victor’s Church and place it in a plain

Our St. Vincent de Paul Society volunteers are working with 60+ families in need this Christmas. We are particularly focusing on the children of these families this year. A MESSAGE FROM THE
“Congress continues to debate health care reform
legislation. While the
U.S House passed a health care bill that prevents the federal
government from funding elective abortions, the u.s. bishops remain
deeply concerned about Senate action, especially as it will affect
abortion funding, conscience rights, affordability for the poor and
vulnerable, and accessibility for immigrants.”
More information may be found on the bulletin board in the
vestibule or visit www.usccb.org/healthcare
. Thank
You...
To
all those who supported the Girl Scouts the last couple or weekends.
They had a “sold out” success.
Thanks also to the Couples for Christ, who volunteered to
cook meals for our priests. A Thanksgiving Prayer:
As we
gather’round this table, as we pray for one and all, we are
grateful for this moment and for blessings, great and small.
May they spread to all the nations on this special day of
grace. May Your love
surround our family. May
Your goodness bless this place.

Rattey) “Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to My voice. “ (John 18:37)
