Dedication of the Lateran Basilica in Rome - November 8-9,2008

Thank You to All Veterans

The Scouts of St. Victor’s, along with Father Michael Hendrickson, will lead the Veterans into the 10:45 A.M. Mass this Sunday. Father Michael, the Choir, Scouts and Parish Community thank you for your sacrifices for our country.

“Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, to assure the survival and success of liberty.”  (John Fitzgerald Kennedy)

All parish offices will be closed Tuesday, November 11th, in observance of Veterans Day.  Mass will be celebrated at 8:00 A.M.

A PRAYER FOR THOSE DEPLOYED TO SERVE IN THE MILITARY:  Lord and Holy Protector, You called Abraham and Sarah to leave their homeland and to journey far away from their own people.  Yet You kept them safe wherever they went.  Protect our children, our husbands and wives, our mothers and fathers, and our friends and loved ones, who continue to fight for our freedom and that of others throughout the world.  Walk by their side and calm any fear; be their companion and guide their thoughts; encircle them with Your light, and keep them from harm.  When their service is ended, lead them safely home again.  For You, O God, are our shelter in every storm and our refuge in times of danger. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Our Love And Prayers Go Out To...

St. Victor’s Parish Community would like to extend their sympathy and prayers to the families and friends of Michelle Bonifacio, Margarita Flores, Amparo Jaramillo and Teresita (Tessie) Santos , who recently passed away.

In Loving Memory

This week’s Sanctuary flowers were donated in loving memory of Doris Mae McCormick and in honor of all our deceased veterans by the J. Bruce Klingensmith family.

With Heartfelt Thanks

THANK YOU for all of your cards and prayers during and after my surgery.  Your kindness is greatly appreciated.

It is good to be back at work and seeing all of you again.   Shari Klingensmith

A BOUQUET OF THANKS to all the members of our parish family who came and supported the teen’s CAR WASH last weekend.  One child, born with a cleft lip and palate in and under-developed country, will now be able to have surgery and a smile, thanks to you.  A SPECIAL THANKS to our teens, who came to wash cars in spite of the inclement weather.

SOCIAL JUSTICE ISSUES...

NEEDY FAMILY – Our St. Vincent de Paul Society volunteers are working with a family in our parish community in need of several dressers and a washer & dryer.  If you are able to help, please call the Rectory Office @ 251-7055.  THANK YOU to the families that donated twin beds for the family in need.

There is so much for which to be thankful for, if only we look to see.  So much, that perhaps we have taken it for granted.  As has been our custom at St. Victor’s, we again ask that non-perishable food items be brought to Mass on THANKSGIVING DAY, and that they be presented at the altar during the offertory procession at each Mass.  Your gifts will be accepted by our St. Vincent de Paul Society volunteers, and put into baskets for distribution to the 54 needy families of our neighborhood throughout the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holiday seasons.  Monetary donations will also be accepted. Thank you!

EASTSIDE F.I.S.H. food collection is next weekend.  Please bring your non-perishable food donations (peanut butter, tuna, macaroni & cheese, canned fruits & vegetables, etc.) and place them in the box in the vestibule of the Church.

EASTSIDE F.I.S.H. HOLIDAY NEEDS. EASTSIDE F.I.S.H. will again be accepting your donations of turkeys, chickens and hams. Call the Rectory Office @ 251-7055 to arrange delivery/pick-up.  Please DO NOT leave any perishable foods in the FISH box in the Church vestibule.  We wish to THANK our supporters for their donations throughout the year.  Our clients directly benefit from your generosity.

The ANNUAL LAYETTE SHOWER, co-sponsored by the Office of Women of the Diocese of San Jose and St. Victor’s Altar Society, Catechetical Ministry and School, will be held on Sunday, December 7th, at St. Frances Cabrini ( 15333 Woodard Rd. ) beginning at 2:00 P.M. Please take the time to pick up a new infant item [newborn to 6 months only].  Santa Clara County social workers then distribute these layettes to those mother and infants most in need, as they leave the hospital throughout the year.  {Please bring your layette items and drop them in the designated box in

the vestibule.} If you would like to make a monetary donation, please make checks payable to St. Victor’s Altar Society and on the memo write Layette.  Your donation may be dropped into the collection basket C/O St. Victor’s Altar Society.  Thank you for your generosity.
