Dedication of the Lateran Basilica in Rome - November 8-9,2008
Thank You to All Veterans The Scouts of St. Victor’s, along with Father
Michael Hendrickson, will lead the Veterans into the 10:45 A.M. Mass this
Sunday. Father Michael, the Choir, Scouts and Parish Community thank you for
your sacrifices for our country. “Let
every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any
price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe,
to assure the survival and success of liberty.”
(John Fitzgerald Kennedy) All parish offices will be closed Tuesday, November 11th, in
observance of Veterans Day. Mass
will be celebrated at 8:00 A.M. A PRAYER FOR THOSE DEPLOYED TO SERVE IN THE
MILITARY: Lord and Holy Protector, You
called Abraham and Sarah to leave their homeland and to journey far away from
their own people. Yet You kept them
safe wherever they went. Protect our
children, our husbands and wives, our mothers and fathers, and our friends and
loved ones, who continue to fight for our freedom and that of others throughout
the world. Walk by their side and
calm any fear; be their companion and guide their thoughts; encircle them with
Your light, and keep them from harm. When
their service is ended, lead them safely home again.
For You, O God, are our shelter in every storm and our refuge in times of
danger. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen. Catechetical Ministry Holiday

THANK YOU to the families that donated twin beds for the
family in need. There is so much for which to be thankful for, if only we look to see. So much, that perhaps we have taken it for granted. As has been our custom at St. Victor’s, we again ask that non-perishable food items be brought to Mass on THANKSGIVING DAY, and that they be presented at the altar during the offertory procession at each Mass. Your gifts will be accepted by our St. Vincent de Paul Society volunteers, and put into baskets for distribution to the 54 needy families of our neighborhood throughout the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holiday seasons. Monetary donations will also be accepted. Thank you! EASTSIDE F.I.S.H. food collection is next weekend. Please bring your non-perishable food donations (peanut butter, tuna, macaroni & cheese, canned fruits & vegetables, etc.) and place them in the box in the vestibule of the Church. EASTSIDE F.I.S.H.
