SECOND COLLECTION TODAY FOR CATHOLIC COMMUNICATIONS

The Catholic Communication Campaign Collection will support THE VALLEY CATHOLIC operating budget for the fiscal year.  The Diocese of San Jose benefits greatly from this newspaper, providing a great deal of news about our local Church as well as news of the national and universal Church. THE VALLEY CATHOLIC is the Bishop’s primary vehicle for communicating important Catholic news to the people of this Diocese. This newspaper operates with a very minimal staff that accomplishes multiple tasks and the newspaper itself is at limited pages and frequency.  It receives no subsidy and relies totally on funds from subscriptions and advertising sales. Any questions regarding subscriptions, please call the Rectory Office @ 251-7055.  Please be generous.  Extra envelopes are available in the pews.  [For information regarding television, radio, newspapers, magazines and internet programs supported by the Catholic Communications Campaign, please go to www.usccb.org/ccc.]

You Are Invited

to the Golden Jubilee (Retirement) Celebration of Father Stephen Perata next Sunday, June 15th, at the 12:15 P.M. Mass.  A reception will follow in the hall and on the parish grounds.   Everyone is invited to wear cultural attire. If you are able to help in any way, please call Alice Trigg @ 928-1630.  {Please see today’s bulletin insert.}

Don’t Forget Dad!

Father’s Day is rapidly approaching – Sunday, June 15th.  Father’s Day Spiritual Bouquet Cards are available on the tables as you leave Church today.  These cards are wonderful for remembering fathers everywhere – living or deceased – on Father’s Day and the remainder of June.  Please place the completed envelope in the collection basket or take it to the parish office by noon this Friday, June 13th.

SUMMER MASS SCHEDULE BEGINS NEXT WEEKEND

PLEASE NOTE: Beginning Sunday, June 15th, there will be NO Sunday 5:00 P.M. Mass during the summer.  This Mass will resume on September 14th.

PLANNED GIVING NOTES

Remember St. Victor’s Parish In Your Plans

It is easy to remember St. Victor’s Parish in your estate plans, wills, trusts, insurance policies, or retirement plans.  Please use the following wording: “To the Roman Catholic Bishop of San Jose, a California Corporation sole, for the benefit of St. Victor’s Parish.”

If you want to know more about this the Diocese can provide free assistance.  Call Robert Serventi @ 983-0168, or write to him at: 900 Lafayette St., Suite 301, Santa Clara, CA 95050.

Power Lab Vacation Bible School, during the week of July 21st-25th, (kindergarten through 6th grade) will give our children a new enthusiasm for God’s Word – and for Jesus!  We will engage the children with fun, and science-minded surprises; they’ll see amazing things happen. They’ll see that Jesus gives them the power to be thankful; help others; be brave; live forever; and tell others about God. For more information, or to help, contact Vickie Reed, 251-0154.  [Registration is being held in the vestibule after all Masses this weekend, June 7th & 8th, and next weekend, June 14th & 15th.]

Do You Have What We Need For Our Hyperspeed Games?  Please check your homes, we need 5 each of child-sized wading pools, hula hoops, buckets, splash balls, hairdryers, ping-pong balls, beach balls, long dowels or broomsticks and leaf blowers, 15 spray bottles and 30 pool “noodles.”  Items may be dropped off at the Rectory Office Monday through Friday from 8:00 A.M.-8:00 P.M.  If you would like your item(s) returned to you after VBS, please mark your name on it.  For any questions, call Vickie Reed @ 251-0154.

MARIAN (MEDJUGORJE) PRAYER GROUP.  Pope John Paul II gave us an encyclical, Redemptoris Master, which indicated that we are heading for the manifestation of Jesus Christ and the renewal of the world through a Second Pentecost.  Therefore he said, that consecration to Mary’s Immaculate Heart was the proper way to exist in this New Millennium.  Since Our Lady preceded the first Advent of Christ she will be the one to lead us to this Second Pentecost.  He then reminded us of the apostles gathered around Our Blessed Mother in prayer in the upper room.  This mystery is experienced in two ways: 1) externally by coming together in prayer groups, and 2) internally by placing ourselves in the heart of Mary and praying with her.

Our Lady has asked us to form prayer groups and to pray for her intentions.  She has given us the format.  Please join us on Tuesdays at 1:00 P.M. in St. Victor’s Chapel.  For more info, please call the Rectory Office @ 251-7055.

$CRIP gift certificates will be available after Masses this weekend, June 7th & 8th.  They make great gifts for grads and dads, as well

as for all those summer weddings and celebrations.
