Trinity
Sunday - May 17-18, 2008
We
have peace with GOD through our Lord, JESUS CHRIST.
God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the HOLY SPIRIT,
which has been given to us. (Romans
5:1,5) Today the Church honors the
Supreme Majesty of One God in Three Divine Persons.
Our intellect is too limited to comprehend the inner essence and life of
the Infinite God. Our contemplation
of this mystery is an occasion for humble adoration and a petition for an
increase of faith. Each time we make
the Sign of the Cross, we affirm our belief in this mystery of our faith.
How privileged we are to be invited into this love of God the Father, God
the Son and God the Holy Spirit for us. SECOND COLLECTION TODAY FOR CATHOLIC CHARITIESCatholic Charities of Santa Clara County serves 27,000 people each year
with 45 various programs. You can
make a difference in the lives of the poor.
Nearly one in four people in Santa Clara County can’t meet their
family’s basic needs without help. They
are the working poor, isolated seniors, at-risk youth, children in
low-performing schools, caregivers of young children, frail elders, and those
suffering from mental illness and addiction.
Together, we can change more lives – for good.
Extra envelopes are available in the pews. Please make a generous pledge or contribution to Catholic Charities of
Santa Clara County at Mass this weekend. All
contributions will support critical services for the poor and vulnerable.
Envelopes are available in the pews, or you may donate online @ www.ccsj.org
, or phone the
Rectory Office (251-7055). [We welcome and thank the
speakers from Catholic Charities, who have come to this weekend’s Masses to
explain some of their programs and special needs.] There Shines
Today A New Light In the Eyes Of His Children
The Saturdays of May 10th and 17th were
particularly wonderful for St. Victor’s Parish Community. Ninety-eight
children of the parish received their First Holy communion. The children and
their parents have been preparing for this event for many months.
This sacrament of initiation is one more step in our children’s faith
journey toward wholeness with God. In
addition to the preparation by the First Communion families of St. Victor’s,
there are other parish members who should be recognized for their efforts in
catechizing the children. The
teachers, both in the Catechetical Program and the School, are to be THANKED
for their commitment and dedication to the spread of the Gospel message.
Jesus says to us, “Wherever two or three have come together in My name,
I am there with them.” Jesus is
with us as we welcome, congratulate and pray for those who have received their
First Eucharist. SCRIPTURE READINGSBODY

Plans – Use ‘Em or Lose ‘Em Did you know the retirement plan assets are part of your estate?
They also have never been taxed as income.
The IRS loves these plans, because they can get two bites instead
of one! This can reduce their value
to your heirs by up to 70%. If you want to know more about this, the Diocese can provide free
assistance. Call the Development
Office @ 983-0245, or write to them at: 900 Lafayette St., Suite 301, Santa
Clara, CA 95050. Power Lab Vacation Bible School, during the week of July 21st-25th, (kindergarten through 6th grade) will give our children a new enthusiasm for God’s Word – and for Jesus! We will engage the children with fun, and science-minded surprises; they’ll see amazing things happen. They’ll see that Jesus gives them the power to be thankful; help others; be brave; live forever; and tell others about God. For more information, or to help, contact the Rectory Office (251-7055). CONGRATULATIONS
to Father Lieu Vu, who celebrates the anniversary of his ordination this
Sunday, May 18th! CONGRATULATIONS
to the 11 adults from St. Victor’s, who were confirmed at
St. Joseph’s Cathedral on May 11th.
Let us keep them in our prayers as they continue to journey with us into
a deeper understanding of the Paschal Mystery. CONGRATULATIONS to the members of
our parish community who recently received the Pope Pius VI Award for their
years of service to St. Victor’s Parish. $CRIP

that you enjoyed your time and celebration with us.
A SPECIAL THANK YOU to the members of the Knights of Columbus
for hosting this event. “Dear Friends, On behalf of the children served by GET ON THE BUS, thank you for
your generous gift of $1,500.00, that united children with their parent in
prison. We are deeply grateful for
your support of this special work. The best way to express the good that your gift helped to bring about is
through the voice of children who benefited from your generosity.
These lines are taken from a letter sent to a parent the day after the
trip: It was so great seeing you. We
have enough joy and happiness to share with the whole world. We slept in our
Get On The Bus t-shirts you signed just to be close to you. John and Sheila. Thank you for your
compassionate response, for your generous giving and for partnering with us in
this important ministry of hope and healing for children.
