SECOND COLLECTION TODAY FOR HOME MISSIONS

Today’s second collection is the Catholic Home Missions Appeal.  This appeal supports the Home Missions – places in the United States where the Catholic Church struggles just to keep parishes open and to educate children in the faith.  Some dioceses are terribly short of priests, sisters and the money needed to run parishes.  This appeal also provides funding to the global Archdiocese of Military Services, which sends chaplains to offer Mass, sacraments, counseling, and the comforts of faith to American Catholic soldiers and their families on military bases around the world.  Please give generously. Thank you.

Student Confirmation At Mass This Sunday

This Sunday, April 20th, the 5:00 P.M. Mass will be a special liturgy for our high school Confirmation students and their families.  Sixty-two of our high school students will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation during this Mass.  Please keep our students and their families in your prayers.

THIS SUNDAY, APRIL 20TH, IS DESIGNATED AS A DAY OF PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS IN THE DIOCESE OF SAN JOSE.  You are invited to the Eucharistic Adoration to Foster Vocations in the Diocese of San Jose, which will be held from Sunday through Tuesday, April 20th-22nd, at the Carmelite Monastery of the Infant Jesus (1000 Lincoln Ave., Santa Clara).  Adoration begins at 12:00 noon on Sunday and ends Tuesday at 7:00 P.M. On Sunday, April 20th, Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. by Rev. Mark Catalana.  There will also be Masses at 7:15 P.M. on Monday, April 21st, (Bishop Patrick J. McGrath will be the presider of this Mass) and at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 22nd (The celebrant for this Mass will be Rev. Adam Gregory Gonzales, OCD).  The concluding Mass will be celebrated at 7:15 A.M. on Tuesday, April 22nd.  For more information and/or to register for a specific adoration time, please go to www.dsj.org/register/adoration.  God bless you and please pray for vocations.

VOCATION PRAYER: Jesus, You are the Good Shepherd.  You know each of us and You call us by name to serve in faith.  Help us respond generously to Your voice.  Give courage and guidance to those You call to the priesthood and the deaconate, to religious life and lay ministry, so they may respond wholeheartedly and serve devotedly.  We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen                                                                                                                                                                                                                         (Companions of St. Anthony)

Jump Into Our Pool

Did you know that you can join the Diocese of San Jose Pooled Income Fund?  You can earn a nice income, avoid capital gains taxes and nail down a tax deduction by doing this.  When you no longer need the income, your gift can go directly to St. Victor’s Parish.

If you want to know more about this, the Diocese can provide free assistance.  Call the Development Office @ 983-0246, or write to them at: 900 Lafayette St., Suite 301, Santa Clara, CA 95050.

All forms received after April 25th will have to select from the remaining open dates.

Mother’s Day Spiritual Bouquet Cards

Mother’s Day Spiritual Bouquet Cards are available on the tables around the inside of the Church.  These cards are wonderful for remembering mothers everywhere – living or deceased.  It is a great opportunity to have them remembered during Mass in our Church on Mother’s Day and throughout the month of May.  Please drop the completed return envelope in the collection basket or take it to the Parish Office by 9:00 A.M. on Friday, May 9th.

May “Crowning” of the Blessed Mother

Please join the Legion of Mary in honoring our Blessed Mother on Saturday, May 10th.  The Rosary procession starts at 4:30 P.M. followed by our Saturday 5:00 P.M. Mass.  Please come and bring flowers.  Refreshments will be served after the Mass.

Power Lab Vacation Bible School, during the week of July 21st-25th, (kindergarten through 6th grade) will give our children a new enthusiasm for God’s Word – and for Jesus!  We will engage the children with fun, and science-minded surprises; they’ll see amazing things happen. They’ll see that Jesus gives them the power to be thankful; help others; be brave; live forever; and tell others about God. For more information, or to help, contact the Rectory Office (251-7055).
