SECOND COLLECTION TODAY FOR ST. VINCENT de PAUL SOCIETY

Today’s second collection is for St. Victor’s St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Please help our volunteers help our neighbors in need.  Thank you!

“You who dwell in liberty bought by their passing recall: it is your son, your daughter, your father, your mother, your brother or sister buried here.  Pause for a moment, forgetting your business and occupation to offer a prayer, a praise, a tear.”                V. S. Owens

PRAYER FOR MEMORIAL DAY: Lord Jesus Christ, today we honor the memory of those men and women who gave their all for the cause of freedom.  They worked, fought and died for the heritage of freedom, brotherhood and honor that they have passed on to us.  Help us to recall that You gave up Your life for the true freedom of all human beings.  Teach us the meaning of peace and the real battle that must take place in ourselves before it will be won in families and nations.  Make us keep Your memory in our celebration of communion and pray for the peace and freedom in today’s world. Amen.

St. Victor’s MEMORIAL DAY MASS schedule for Monday, May 26th, will be 8:00 and 9:00 A.M.

PLANNED GIVING NOTES

Income from Money Market Funds, CDs, Bonds in the Dumps?

Did you know that there is a way that you can increase your income from funds invested in these types of assets, reduce your taxes and help your parish at the same time?

If you want to know more about this, the Diocese can provide free assistance.  Call Robert Serventi @ 983-0168 or write to him at: 900 Lafayette St., Suite 301, Santa Clara, CA 95050.

You Are Invited...

to the Golden Jubilee Celebration of Father Stephen Perata on Sunday, June 15th, at the 12:15 P.M. Mass.  A reception will follow in the hall and on the parish grounds.   Everyone is invited to wear cultural attire. If you are able to help in any way, please call Alice Trigg @ 928-1630.

OUR CHILDREN MODEL YOU…

The children who have just received their First Holy Communion look to you and follow what you do before and after receiving the Eucharist.  They know this is a special and wonderful time and that folding their hands near their heart is a way of showing how special this sacrament is to them.  Because it is so new, sometimes they forget what they are supposed to do and they look to others around them to see what they are doing.  Help us model a respectful and reverent posture when receiving Communion, showing the children that we are aware of the awesome love God has shown in giving His Son to us through the Eucharist.

Power Lab Vacation Bible School, during the week of July 21st-25th, (kindergarten through 6th grade) will give our children a new enthusiasm for God’s Word – and for Jesus!  We will engage the children with fun, and science-minded surprises; they’ll see amazing things happen. They’ll see that Jesus gives them the power to be thankful; help others; be brave; live forever; and tell others about God. For more information, or to help, contact the Catechetical Ministry Office @ 251-0154.  [Volunteer and early registration forms are available at the Rectory Office.]

Don’t Forget Dad!

Father’s Day is rapidly approaching – Sunday, June 15th.  Father’s Day Spiritual Bouquet Cards are available on the tables as you leave Church today.  These cards are wonderful for remembering fathers everywhere – living or deceased – on Father’s Day and the remainder of June.  Please place the completed envelope in the collection basket or take it to the parish office by noon on Friday, June 13th.

CONGRATULATIONS to Emily Burket (10 years), James Reed (25 years) and Mary Esteban (40 years) for receiving the Pius X Awards for their years of service with our Catechetical Ministry Program.
