Coming Your Way Next Weekend... Be
on time for Masses next Sunday. Remember,
daylight savings time ends – turn
your clocks back one hour. There
will be a second collection next weekend for St. Victor’s
Development Fund. THE PUMPKIN PRAYER: Dear God, as I carve my
pumpkin, help me say this prayer: (Cut open the top of the pumpkin). Open
my mind so I can learn about You. (Clean out the inside). Take
away all my sin and forgive me for the bad things I do. (Cut eyes shaped
like hearts.) Open my eyes so Your love I will see. (Cut a nose in the shape of
the cross) I’m sorry for turning up
my nose to all You’ve given me.
(Cut out ears shaped like the Bible) Open
my ears so Your word I will hear. (Cut the mouth in the shape of a
fish.) Open my mouth so I can tell others You’re near.
(Place a candle inside and light it.)
Let Your light shine in all I
say and do! Amen. “Let my
mouth be filled with Your praise and with Your glory all the day.” (Psalms
71:8} DAY OF THE DEAD – We remember deceased family members and friends in a special way on
November 2nd, (All Souls Day).
In countries of Hispanic and/or Latin cultures, this day is known as
the “Day of the Dead.” It is
an important and festive celebration that views death as the entryway to
eternal life as promised by Christ – death is a natural extension of life,
where deceased members continue to live.
The festivities demonstrate a respect for the sanctity of life, as
well as a strong belief in the communion of saints. To
apply to St. Victor’s School, please call 251-1740. There are still a few
openings for some grades. ARCHBISHOP MITTY HIGH SCHOOL’S BLACK
AND GOLD will be held on Saturday, November 8th, beginning at 6:00 P.M. in the
Fairmont Hotel’s Imperial Ballroom. The
special performance for the evening will be provided by comedian/actor, Bill
Engvall. Proceeds benefit the
school’s general endowment fund. For
tickets and all the details, please call 252-6610 or go to www.mitty.com
. “I am compassionate.” (EX 22:27)
