RESPECT LIFE – WE PRAY – God of compassion and patient love, be with all who are afraid and give them the courage of the Gospel of life. Be with all mothers, especially those who are young or alone, beaten or addicted. Heal their broken hearts and seal them with Your love. Be with all children, those who are yet unborn, those who are tiny and frail. Cradle them in Your love. Be with all fathers, especially those who are young and confused, angry or afraid. Give them strength and wisdom and heal them with Your love. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen (Rev. James Moronery)

DEVELOPMENT FUND COLLECTION TODAY

REVEREND MONSIGNOR THOMAS F. AHERN

We are sad to inform you that Reverend Monsignor Thomas F. Ahern, who was pastor here at St. Victor’s Church from 1973 to 1986, died in the peace of the Lord on Tuesday, September 30, 2008, in Saratoga , California at the age of 82. Services for Monsignor Ahern were held at Sacred Heart Parish in Saratoga this past week. We are appreciative of the many good works of Fr. Ahern especially for leading the process of designing and building the new parish church of St. Victor ’s after our 1981 arson fire and for his dedication to the people of the Diocese of San Jose. Please pray for the repose of his soul. May he rest in peace.

St. victor’s fiesta (October 4^th& 5^th)!

It’s finally here! Please join us on parish grounds after Mass today for our annual parish fiesta featuring games, attractions, super slide, international foods, barbeque tri-tip, $16,000 raffle, bingo, and silent auction. Don’t forget our Sunday, pancake breakfast in the hall until 11:00 A.M. Saturday’s fiesta begins at 10:00 A.M. and Sunday we begin at 12Noon. See you there for a whole lot of fun!

ANNUAL SAN JOSE LIFE CHAIN - Oct. 5^th

The Annual San Jose Life Chain will take place on Stevens Creek Blvd. and Kiely Blvd. From 2:30 to 4:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 5, 2008. This event will be one of over 1000 life chains taking place throughout the nation on “Respect Life Sunday.” It is an hour-and-a-half of prayer and peaceful witness on behalf of the unborn. Prayerful, tasteful signs will be distributed free starting at 2:00 P.M. on the day of the event. SISTERS OF ST. JOSEPH OF CARONDELET “WOMEN OF HEART” EVENT

With the 1883 opening of St. Patrick’s School in Oakland , the Sisters of St. Joseph began their service to residents of the Bay Area. In 1895, they founded St. Joseph ’s Home for the Deaf and in 1909, they established Star of the Sea in San Francisco . Eventually, they began teaching at St. Thomas Apostle in San Francisco and a number of Schools in the East Bay , Peninsula and the South Bay . As their ministries evolved to meet critical needs of the times, they continue to leave their imprint as innovators in education, pastoral care, parish ministry and also social services directed to addressing the needs of the homeless, abused, challenged and imprisoned.
