PLANNED GIVING NOTES

Turn Your Home From A Tax Sponge Into A Tax Deduction

Are you tired of paying taxes on your home? Did you know that you can get a tax deduction for a portion of your home’s value to help offset these taxes?  You can do this, continue to live in your home and support the work of your parish at the same time.

If you want to know more about this, the Diocese can provide free assistance.  Call Robert Serventi @ 983-0168, or write to him at: 900 Lafayette St., Suite 301 , Santa Clara , CA 95050 .

FOR SAFETY SAKE

For your safety as well as the safety of others, we ask your cooperation with St. Victor’s, the Police Department and the Fire Department by parking in designated areas only.   We especially need the fire lanes to be left open and clear. (You may be ticketed!)  As a courtesy to others, we ask you to follow traffic signs in and out of the parish grounds.  Please also obey the posted signs – Speed Limit of 5 miles per hour - when driving on the parish grounds.  We hope those few traffic rules will help keep everyone safe, and smooth any traffic flow problems we may have.

U.n.I. LORD TEENS – BAKE SALE

Next Sunday, November 23rd, St. Victor’s U.n.I. Lord Teens will be sponsoring their 14th annual BAKE SALE after the 7:00, 8:00, 9:15 and 10:45 A.M. and 12:15 P.M. Masses.  All items cost $5.00 each.  The teens hold this fundraiser each year to help those in need during the holiday season.  {In the past, they have been able to provide holiday meals, groceries for several weeks, new coats or clothing and Christmas toys and decorations for their adopt-a-family.}  Thank you in advance for your generous support of St. Victor’s teens.  God bless you.

OLIVEWOOD HANDCRAFTED ITEMS FROM THE HOLY LAND will be available to purchase after all Masses the weekend, December 6th & 7th. The olivewood carving industries has evolved as a cultural tradition of Christians over many centuries.  Many Holy Land Christians in the Bethlehem area alone rely upon income generated from this art form, carved by the local craftsmen.  Less than 2% of the population in that area is now Christian, as many families are now leaving the area to find relief from the difficult conditions of their homeland. Please help protect this very important culture and industry.

St. Victor’s School still has openings for some grades, please call them @ 251-1740, for more information.

SOCIAL JUSTICE ISSUES...

NEEDY FAMILY – Our St. Vincent de Paul Society volunteers are working with a family in our parish community in need of a twin bed set, several dressers and a washer & dryer.  If you are able to help, please call the Rectory Office @ 251-7055.

There is so much for which to be thankful for, if only we look to see.  So much, that perhaps we have taken it for granted.  As has been our custom at St. Victor’s, we again ask that non-perishable food items be brought to Mass on THANKSGIVING DAY, and that they be presented at the altar during the offertory procession at each Mass.  Your gifts will be accepted by our St. Vincent de Paul Society volunteers, and put into baskets for distribution to the 54 needy families of our neighborhood throughout the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holiday seasons.  Monetary donations will also be accepted. Thank you!

EASTSIDE F.I.S.H. food collection is this weekend.  Please place your non-perishable food donations in the box in the vestibule of the Church.

EASTSIDE F.I.S.H. HOLIDAY NEEDS. EASTSIDE F.I.S.H. will again be accepting your donations of turkeys, chickens and hams. Call call the Rectory Office @ 251-7055 to arrange delivery/pick-up.  Please DO NOT leave any perishable foods in the FISH box in the Church vestibule.  We wish to THANK our supporters for their donations throughout the year.  Our clients directly benefit from your generosity.

The ANNUAL LAYETTE SHOWER, co-sponsored by the Office of Women of the Diocese of San Jose and St. Victor’s Altar Society, Catechetical Ministry and School, will be held on Sunday, December 7th, at St. Frances Cabrini ( 15333 Woodard Rd. ) beginning at 2:00 P.M. Please take the time to pick up a new infant item [newborn to 6 months only].  Santa Clara County social workers then distribute these layettes to those mother and infants most in need, as they leave the hospital throughout the year.  {Please bring your layette items and drop them in the designated box in the vestibule.} If you would like to make a monetary donation, please make checks payable to St. Victor’s Altar Society and on the memo write Layette.  Your donation may be dropped into the collection basket C/O St. Victor’s Altar Society.  Thank you for your generosity.

SOCIAL JUSTICE VIDEOS (some are free and a few are for sale) are available at the Office for Parish Services in Room 405 at the Chancery Office.  For further info, please contact Sylvia Blanch @ 983-0128.
