Stained Glass

26th Sunday in Ordinary Time - September 25-26, 2009

YOUR ATTENTION, PLEASE!

During this time of public concern regarding the H1N1 Swine Flu Virus, our Bishop McGrath has asked the faithful: to refrain from holding hands during the Lord’s Prayer; to share the Sign of the Peace in ways other than shaking hands, and to receive Holy Communion into the hands only until further notice.  Thank you for your cooperation!

PLANNED GIVING NOTES

Life Insurance Gifts

It is easy to turn an old life insurance policy into a nice gift to St. Victor’s Parish, and a possible tax deduction.  Simply transfer it to, “The Roman Catholic Bishop, a California Corporate Sole, for the benefit of St. Victor’s Parish.”  It is even easier to add the parish as a beneficiary to a policy.  Because you can always change this, there is no tax deduction for including the Church as a beneficiary.

If you want to know more about this, the Diocese can provide free assistance.  Call Robert Serventi @ 983-0168, or write to him at: Diocese of San Jose, The Chancery, 1150 N. First St., Suite 100, San Jose, CA 95112-4966.

Our Love And Prayers Go Out To...

St. Victor’s Parish Community would like to extend their sympathy and prayers to the family and friends of Mary Ruth Dargis, who recently passed away.

Mary Ruth’s funeral will be held here in St. Victor’s Church on Monday, September 28th, at 10:00 A.M.  Bishop Patrick J. McGrath will be the main celebrant.

In Celebration

Pat and Judi Smith donated this week’s Sanctuary flowers in celebration of their daughter, Roxanne’s, birthday.

Sick Relatives and Friends

Please pray for the sick, seriously ill and hospitalized members of our parish community, including those preparing for surgical procedures and tests, especially Marie Alvarado.

A Volunteer With Computer Skills Needed

We are looking for a volunteer to schedule our Lectors and Eucharistic Ministers for our weekend Masses and Holy Days of Obligation.  We would like to THANK Glenn Frizzell, who has been faithfully performing this task for over 25 years.  If you would like to help St. Victor’s with this scheduling, call the Parish Office @ 251-7055. {The Rectory Office runs all the copies and provides the labels and mailing envelopes.}

INTERNATIONAL WEEK OF FAST AND PRAYER

Our parishioners are asked to join other Catholics around the world from October 2nd-12th for an International Week of Prayer and Fasting.  Although we live in uncertain times, many graces are also flowing.  We appear to be surrounded by critical events that impact many families. The heavenly weapons to prevent disasters, wars and degeneration are the Eucharist and the Rosary.  Suggestions – pray the Rosary daily, recite the Divine Mercy Chaplet, attend daily Mass and/ or a Holy Hour, fast (from food, TV, shopping), or hold a Prayer Service or Rosary at your home with a group.

Join St. Victor’s Legion of Mary for a ROSARY, in conjunction with America Needs Fatima, on Saturday, October 10th, at 12:00 noon at 2803 Glauser Dr.  Please watch for the flyer in next week’s Sunday Bulletin.
