Easter Sunday, The Resurrection of the Lord - April 11-12, 2009

The priests, sister and staff of St. Victor’s Church wish you a blessed, peaceful Easter.

One of the beautiful traditions of the Easter season is the lighting of the Paschal Candle.  The Easter (Paschal) Candle symbolizes Christ as the Light of the World.  It stands in the sanctuary throughout the days of Easter until Ascension, reminding us of the risen Christ – the true light for each and every person.

St. Victor’s WelcomesThose who are receiving Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation: Carmencita Ibarra, Nicholas Quach, Candy Rosas, Anne Schnittger, Melvin Siauw and Toan Tran.  Those who are making a profession of Faith and receiving Eucharist and Confirmation: Michelle Conan, Jamie Espinoza, Laura Guerrero, Nakie Jaramillo, Dynah Lucena, Karen Mattos, Michael Nelson Hector Paco and Joe Vera.

ANNUAL DIOCESAN APPEAL - GREAT JOB!

Bishop McGrath, the Diocesan Steering Committee, Father Hendrickson, Priests and Parish Chairman, we all THANK and CONGRATULATE St. Victor’s for another stellar performance in the Annual Diocesan Appeal. Those funds collected in excess of the Diocesan assessment will, as usual, be returned to the parish.  We may all take pride that St. Victor’s continues to be a leader in this most important annual pledge drive.  Again, our THANKS and CONGRATULATIONS FOR YOUR CONTINUED GENEROSITY, SUPPORT AND A JOB WELL DONE!!!

Please Pray For...

Please pray for our sick, seriously ill and hospitalized members of our parish community, including those preparing for surgical procedures and tests, especially Patrick Esteban.

CATECHETICAL MINISTRY HELP NEEDED

CM is looking for those who are interested in sharing their faith, time and talents with our Junior High and High School students.  This is a weekly commitment for Junior High and twice a month for High School confirmation students.  Please prayerfully consider this most important ministry (Training is provided.)  For more information, please contact Sharron Hollenbeck or Angela Giampaoli in the Catechetical Ministry Office @ 251-0165.

Bulletin advertisers needed

Why not let parishioners know about your business or service while helping the parish at the same time?  St. Victor’s currently has space available for new bulletin advertisers.  Please call the Parish Office @ 251-7055 for more information.  THANK YOU to those who already advertise with us – you make our Sunday bulletin possible!

SAVE THE DATES...EVERYONE IS INVITED...

BINGO – St. Victor’s Parish Hall this Friday, April 17th.  Doors Open at 5:00 P.M.

Please see today’s bulletin insert for all the details!

SPRINGTIME BRUNCH & AUCTION – will be held on Sunday, May 3rd, from 10:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M. in the Parish Hall (Registration – 10:00 A.M., Buffet – 10:30-11:30 A.M., Silent Auction begins at opening and Live Auction begins at 11:30 A.M.)  Buffet Tickets are Pre-Sales only [$35.00 per couple & $20.00 per individual].  For more information, please call the School Office @ 251-1740.

FOR SAFETY SAKE.  For your safety as well as the safety of others, we ask your cooperation with St. Victor’s, the Police Department and the Fire Department by parking in designated areas only.   We especially need the fire lanes to be left open and clear. (You may be ticketed!)  As a courtesy to others, we ask you to follow traffic signs in and out of the parish grounds.  Please also obey the posted signs – Speed Limit of 5 miles per hour - when driving on the parish grounds.  We hope those few traffic rules will help keep everyone safe, and smooth any traffic flow problems we may have.

THE GOOD ORDER OF THE HOUSE OF GOD – If there are pews open, please come in, have a seat and participate fully in the Mass.   Standing around the Church is very distracting to our priests, lectors and other parishioners. Our ushers provide a very welcome service at our celebrations of the Eucharist.  Please assist them if they ask for your help and cooperation. Please help to keep the Church and the surrounding area neat and clean.  At the end of Mass you can help by replacing your Music books and Missalettes in the pew racks and by taking your bulletin home with you for handy reference. Please do not chew gum in or around the Church.  Dispose of chewing gum in a trash receptacle not on the ground or under the pews. There is a CRYING ROOM available for young children with room for one parent.  Out of respect for the priest and courtesy to others, please arrive at Mass on time and remain in your pews until the priest has left the Church.  Thank you for your cooperation.

THANK YOU to the family that donated beds to a needy family in our parish community.  SINCERE THANKS ALSO to St. Victor’s School students, their families, faculty and staff for their generous donations.  The food and monies collected from their Walk-A-Thon were distributed to Eastside F.I.S.H. and our St. Vincent de Paul Society to help the needy families of our parish community.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH

Once again the annual SEDER was a sellout success!  We hope that the 200+ guests enjoyed the celebration of the mingling of Christian and Jewish traditions.  SPECIAL THANKS are given to the many wonderful chairpersons and volunteers, who devoted time and energy towards making this event a memorable one, and to McDonald’s for their generous donations.  Any lost/found Seder dishes and silverware may be dropped off or picked up at the parish office.

THERE WILL BE A SECOND COLLECTION NEXT WEEKEND FOR OUR HOME MISSIONS.

Many Thanks to our Bulletin Advertisers, they make our Sunday Bulletin possible.  Please patronize them.

A good steward is one who receives God’s gifts gratefully, cherishes and tends them responsibly, shares them in justice and love and returns them increase to the Lord.

Alleluia! Alleluia! He Is Risen Today! Alleluia!
