Stained Glass

Third Sunday in Ordinary Time - January 23-24, 2010

Ecumenical (Christian Unity) Sunday

SECOND COLLECTION TODAY FOR ETHNIC MINORITIES AND LATIN AMERICA

Almost half of the people in Latin America live in poverty, and half of these men, women and children are extremely destitute.  Yet for many of them, the lack of income, basic sanitation and decent housing is compounded by spiritual poverty. The collection for the Church in Latin America funds projects throughout Mexico, Central and South America and the Caribbean, that bring marginalized people more fully into the life of the Church.  Your gift to this collection provides greatly needed pastoral care and religious training to rural communities and indigenous populations, helping to enrich people’s faith with genuine Catholic teaching.

2010 ANNUAL DIOCESAN APPEAL THIS WEEKEND

GROWING IN FAITH TOGETHER

This is PLEDGE WEEKEND.  After the homily at all the Masses, please participate in the Offertory Procession.  Bring your pledge form in its envelope to the altar as a sign of your faith and an expression of love.  This is an opportunity for us to unite with all Catholics in the Diocese to share our blessings and to show our concern for one another.  If you’ve forgotten to bring it today, blank envelopes and pens/pencils are available in the pews.  For your convenience, you may also take your pledge forms/envelopes to the rectory office, or simply drop them in the collection basket.  Your participation and gift is important.

PLANNED GIVING NOTES

Retirement Plans – Use ‘Em Or Lose ‘Em

Did you know that retirement plan assets are part of your estate?  They also have never been taxed as income.  The IRS loves these plans, because they can get two bites instead of one!  This can reduce their value to you heirs by up to 70%.

If you want to know more about this, the Diocese can provide free assistance.  Call Robert Serventi @ 983-0168 or write to him at: Diocese of San Jose, The Chancery, 1150 N. First St., Suite 100, San Jose, CA 95112-4966.

2009 CONTRIBUTION STATEMENTS AND ADA/CATHOLIC FOUNDATION INFORMATION

St. Victor’s recently changed our software to ParishSoft.  When the information was merged with our Parish Data Systems information, it did not merge well.  We are asking that you please go over your contribution statements and ADA mailing when you receive it – make sure the names, addresses and other information are completely correct.  We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause you.

Those families who use the parish envelope system will soon be receiving statements of contribution(s) for determining the amounts given by each family in Regular, Special and Development fund collections.  These statements are done out of courtesy for you and are very useful in preparing your income tax returns.  We thank you for your continued support ant generosity.

PLEASE NOTE: Catholic Foundation and ADA contribution statements will be mailed to you directly from those Diocesan Offices.
