Our Lady of Guadalupe Society

In 1970, a group of parishioners wishing to honor Our Lady of Guadalupe on her feast day, December 12, formed a society in her honor. The response of the members was so enthusiastic that they have remained faithful to the association and they have promoted the spiritual goals as well as helped preserved their cultural values.

Although the main purpose is devotion to Our Lady, the Society has undertaken projects like family campouts, barbecues, home Masses and the Crab Feed . These activities have successful, but more important they helped reinforce bonds among the members of the Society.

Our Lady of Guadalupe Society offers total support for all parish activities. The members participate in all Parish activities such as the Parish Faire, Parish Barbecue and events sponsored by other activities. The Society meets once a month at a members home to pray the Rosary, have dinner and also discuss and plan the year's events.

At present the Society has three fundraising activities. They are:

    1. the annual New Year's Eve Dance
    2. the annual Crab Feed dinner/dance
    3. annual Berryessa Art & Wine Festival selling "nachos" & cold drinks

The proceeds from these fund raisers are distributed annually to the following: St. Victor Church, St. Victor's School, St. Vincent de Paul and St. Victor's CM(CCD) Program.

Financial support has also been given to organizations outside of our parish:

  1. Alviso Flood Relief - A letter of commendation was received from the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors.
  2. Mexican Earthquake Relief
  3. Adopt a Child Program
  4. Senior Citizen's Building Fund, Bingo, and luncheons.

Anyone interested in the devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe is invited to join the Society. Contact the Rectory for the name of the president of the Society.
